A Wild Rumor Says Google Is On The Verge Of Achieving RSI, As Anthropic, OpenAI, And Elon Musk All Call For Pacing AI In What Might Be A Cynical Attempt At Regulatory Capture
Recursive Self-Improvement or RSI is widely considered the holy grail of AI, and a wild rumor now suggests that Google's DeepMind - the unlikeliest of AI labs in the current paradigm - has achieved this feat, which then puts a cynical spin on a somewhat coordinated push from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Elon Musk to try to achieve regulatory capture of the broader AI sphere by advocating for pacing progress on AI models. Cynisim abounds as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Elon Musk all call for pacing the progress on AI, which critics argue only serves as a front for disadvantaging other AI […]

Anthropic Pounces As OpenAI Abandons SpaceX’s Cursor, Vowing To Increase Claude Compute Even As OpenAI Cites Contract Distrust
The animosity between Elon Musk and Sam Altman is as convoluted as sordid, replete with a veritable smorgasbord of moves and countermoves that frequently spill out from the personal sphere and into the commercial one. Now, just a few hours after Altman's OpenAI announced the termination of its partnership with SpaceX's Cursor, while citing fears around the security of its proprietary technology, SpaceX has hit back with a diminutive take on the importance of OpenAI's models within the platform's ecosystem. SpaceX's Cursor remains unfazed by the termination of its partnership with OpenAI, with Elon Musk's behemoth enterprise taking pains to […]

Grok 4.6 Matches Claude Fable 5 for a Fraction of the Price
Everyone wrote off Elon Musk’s xAI as an also-ran. Grok 4.6 just made that take look silly.
The new model scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, tying GPT-5.6 Sol and sitting just one point behind Claude Fable 5. It also tops the leaderboard on GDPVal-AA v2, AA-Briefcase, and Harvey LAB (Vals), which isn’t nothing given who it’s up against.
Introducing Grok 4.6.

It delivers frontier intelligence and is a significant improvement over Grok 4.5 at the same price. pic.twitter.com/RtTbpXcb3a
Grok Ai’s price is the real story
At $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, Grok 4.6 costs roughly half what other frontier models charge for comparable performance. That’s a serious dent in the “cheap models are worse models” assumption. Mind you, DeepSeek’s freshly released V4-Pro undercuts even that, coming in at $0.435 per million input tokens and $0.87 per million output tokens, so xAI isn’t the only one playing the discount game.

None of this works without a lot of powerful computers behind it. Think of each chip like a tiny brain doing maths really fast, and xAI just has loads of them. By May 2026, its Colossus 1 site reportedly had over 220,000 of these chips running. Colossus 2 already has even more, over 550,000 of them. And xAI wants to keep adding more computers every year, aiming for about five times today’s amount by the end of 2027.
Frontier AI was supposed to be a two-horse race between Anthropic and OpenAI. Grok 4.6 says otherwise.

Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI Enters The Big League With Grok 4.6, Offering Fable 5-Level Performance At An 80 Percent Discount
Elon Musk's SpaceXAI was largely written off as a has-been AI enterprise a while back. And yet, it has proven its detractors egregiously wrong with the all-new Grok 4.6, an AI model that goes toe-to-toe with Anthropic's Fable 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol at a fraction of price. Grok 4.6 achieves a score of 61 on Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, which is the same as GPT-5.6 Sol and just a point shy of Claude Fable 5 SpaceXAI's Grok 4.6 offers comparable performance to Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol when it comes to Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. It […]

T-Mobile’s CEO Dismisses Elon Musk’s Starlink Threat As “Exaggerated,” Says SpaceX’s Entry In The Carrier Business Serves No Purpose
T-Mobile's CEO has chosen to be dismissive of SpaceX's recent braggadocio, terming the threat posed by Elon Musk's cellular ambitions as "exaggerated" and lacking any particularly strong utility in solving consumer-centric problems. And yet, this seemingly cavalier attitude on the part of T-Mobile might belie its hidden fears. After all, SpaceX possesses a wide array of strategic assets, including well-endowed coffers, a vast constellation of satellites, and Elon Musk's relentless ambition serving as a potent driving force. T-Mobile is seemingly unfazed by SpaceX's plans to turn Starlink dishes into cellular base stations for urban cellular coverage As we detailed recently, […]

Elon Musk’s Terafab Is Now Looking To Hire A Memory Process Engineer, Suggesting It’s Serious About Challenging The Oligopoly Of Samsung, SK hynix, And Micron
Elon Musk was already aiming for an unprecedented degree of semiconductor-related vertical integration within the confines of the uber-ambitious Terafab joint project between Tesla and SpaceX. Even so, the mega-billionaire has just dialed up his ambitions by a significant notch by also throwing in memory-related ambitions into this proverbial silicon cauldron. Tesla has just posted a job opening for a Memory Process Integration Engineer for Terafab to handle the "integration of unit processes for DRAM and emerging memory technologies" For the benefit of those who might not be aware, Terafab is an ambitious semiconductor-focused joint venture between Tesla and SpaceX […]

Elon Musk Declares War On Verizon, AT&T, And T-Mobile, As SpaceX Now Wants To Turn Starlink Dishes Into Cellular Base Stations To Skip The CapEx
Elon Musk was in his prime ahead of SpaceX's first earnings call as a public company, warning detractors of complete annihilation before the call, while throwing out trillion-dollar buzzwords with alacrity during the call itself. Elon Musk takes pains to note that SpaceX's revenue - not ARR - will hit $1 trillion by 2030, while identifying the 200 percent annual increase in memory demand as the primary growth barrier SpaceX has now disclosed its earnings for the second quarter of 2026, reporting revenue of $7.8 billion against a consensus estimate of $6.93 billion, with Starlink contributing $4.3 billion and SpaceXAI […]
