Treyarch and Iron Galaxy are Bringing Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 to PS5

After rumours that Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 remasters were in the works, Treyarch came forward to confirm what's actually happening. The original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are being ported to PS5 this coming July, thanks to the efforts of Iron Galaxy Studios. The news was announced with a short post on Treyarch's official X (formerly Twitter) account, with a short message that didn't elaborate on what these ports would include or categorize them as proper 'remasters.' Update 15/06/2026: A report from The Verge claims that Ninja Theory is being shut down by Xbox, and that the next-best hope for the studio's future would be for it to find another studio to acquire it. The report reiterates that Compulsion and Double-Fine remain in negotiations to spin-off as independents, though that is seemingly not an option for Ninja Theory.
