Playground Games’ Fable has been officially rated in multiple countries

25 May 2026 at 11:30

With Forza Horizon 6 officially out and already a massive success, many Xbox fans are looking towards the future and what’s next in store for Playground Games. Ahead of the expected launch of the much-anticipated Fable reboot later this year, multiple game rating boards have now officially listed the title on their databases – all-but-confirming that Fable should make its expected Autumn 2026 release window.

Following the official release window announcement for Fable, rumours popped up claiming that the upcoming RPG could be delayed out of its announced ‘Autumn 2026’ release window. These claims were quickly quashed, with Playground Games themselves reaffirming the Autumn timeframe.

While the title could still of course wind up receiving a last-minute delay, this seems to be increasingly unlikely, with two different game ratings boards (Korea and Australia) having now officially listed Fable on their sites.

As per its Australian classification, Fable has received an M rating, noting ‘mature themes’ and moments of ‘violence’. Of course, each region has its own metrics for analysis, and so we will have to wait and see what other boards have to say on the matter.

Either way, it is becoming increasingly clear that following years of waiting, hype and anticipation, Playground Games’ Fable reboot is truly almost here. Hopefully we will learn of its full release date during Microsoft’s upcoming Summer showcase.

Playground's Fable reboot has been officially rated in South Korea and Australia, as spotted by Reddit users. Both of them have restricted the game to be only available to adults due to its mature content, and the South Korean board also shared why: An immersive open-world action RPG depicting the player's adventure to resolve the situation where villagers are turned to stone by an unidentified stranger. Therefore, in accordance with Article 21 of the Act on Promotion of the Game Industry and Article 7, Paragraph 4 of the Classification Regulations, it has been decided to classify it as 'Not suitable […]

Long-awaited Fable reboot could be pushed out of 2026 according to insider

13 April 2026 at 09:00

One of the most anticipated Xbox titles for quite a few years now has been Playground Games’ Fable, with the reboot of this classic RPG series first being announced all the way back in 2020 (though rumours of its existence had begun as early as 2018). After years of waiting, the team at Playground Games officially confirmed earlier this year that the title is set to launch sometime this Autumn. Unfortunately, according to insiders Fable may be getting one more final delay.

As reported by known industry insider Jeff Grubb (and transcribed by Idle Sloth), Playground Games’ highly-anticipated Fable Reboot could be pushed out of its previously-announced “Autumn” 2026 release window, claiming via the Game Mess Morning Show:

“I've heard that Fable has been pushed internally. That doesn't mean that it's coming out next year. Apparently they're still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA 6.”

Grubb continued, “If it's getting delayed beyond the release of GTA 6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027.”

As mentioned by Grubb, the impending release of Grand Theft Auto VI will likely create a black hole of sorts within the industry, and so it makes sense for Playground Games / Xbox to try and avoid launching around the same time as Rockstar’s upcoming juggernaut.

All that said, considering the fact that it’s been over 8 years since rumours first popped up surrounding Fable (and half a decade since its initial announcement), potentially waiting a few more months shouldn’t be the end of the world.
