Microsoft has not explained every technical detail yet, but it has already started updating some built-in Windows apps to make them use less memory. The company is also improving WinUI, the framework used to build many modern Windows applications. These changes are expected to help reduce overall RAM usage across the operating system.

Updates are expected by the end of 2026

Microsoft expects these memory improvements to arrive gradually, with more updates rolling out through the end of 2026. Some of the larger optimizations could continue into 2027 as development progresses.

The announcement comes shortly after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella once again highlighted the company’s commitment to making Windows 11 better for users. While Nadella spoke about the company’s overall vision, Davuluri provided more details about the technical work being done behind the scenes.
