NVIDIA DLSS 5 modders continue experimenting with ways to reduce the technology's substantial performance cost, with the latest attempt bringing a hybrid FP8/NVFP4 version of its Neural Rendering model to GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. As highlighted by X user SwurvGaming, the experimental implementation was introduced through version 0.7.1 of the OptiScaler-DLSSNR-PreSR-Multipass project. Since Blackwell's fifth-generation Tensor Cores natively accelerate NVFP4, moving portions of DLSS 5 away from FP8 sounds like an obvious way to improve inference performance. The actual gains, however, are tiny. In fact, according to the project's release notes, the hybrid model reduced the complete DLSS 5 [โ€ฆ]
