New AUO display lineup includes up to 800Hz panels

31 March 2026 at 15:30

Panel manufacturer AUO is set to make a significant splash at the upcoming Touch Taiwan 2026 trade show in Taipei. Leading its gaming-focused lineup is a world-first 24-inch Full HD panel capable of a staggering 800Hz refresh rate.

As reported by Prad, the company is also addressing the high-resolution enthusiast segment with a pair of new dual-mode switchable displays. The first is a 32-inch 4K unit that supports up to 360Hz, while the second is a 27-inch 5K panel with a maximum refresh rate of 180Hz. Both models use a dual-frequency mode that lets users prioritise either pixel density or raw speed, depending on the task at hand. Notably, the 27-inch 5K model is expected to offer seamless switching to WQHD (1440p) resolution.

The mobile productivity market hasn't been overlooked either. AUO is introducing a new 16-inch LTPS laptop panel with WQHD resolution and advanced power-saving capabilities. Similar to high-end smartphone displays, this panel can dynamically scale its refresh rate from 165Hz to 1Hz when viewing static content. This ultra-low-power state is intended to extend battery life in mobile devices.

Beyond that, AUO is leveraging its MicroLED expertise to showcase the technology's versatility across various sectors. This includes a massive 54-inch transparent signage display integrated into a retail showcase, as well as a fully rollable MicroLED screen designed for space-saving in-vehicle entertainment. The manufacturer is also bringing these high-end optics to the public transport sector, developing 16.1-inch transparent, double-sided displays for trains that can overlay travel information and safety alerts directly onto window surfaces without obstructing the view.

ASRock expands its monitor lineup with five new Phantom Gaming models

23 March 2026 at 09:00

ASRock is continuing its aggressive expansion into the gaming peripheral market, announcing a fresh lineup of Phantom Gaming and Challenger series monitors. The new headliners, the PG27FFS2E, PG27FFS2E-W, and PG27FFS1A, are clearly aimed at the heart of the competitive-grade market, offering a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response times on 27-inch IPS panels.

The new Phantom Gaming displays, including the PG27FFS2E, the white-themed PG27FFS2E-W, and the PG27FFS1A, are designed for competitive gaming with a 240Hz refresh rate, Full HD resolution, and a 1ms response time. If you have a modern white gaming setup, then the S2E-W should be of interest to you, as it will match your system and peripherals.

These 27-inch FHD IPS panels strike a balance between fluidity and colour accuracy, with 99% sRGB coverage and factory-calibrated profiles. The inclusion of AMD FreeSync Premium ensures that fast-paced titles remain tear-free, while the four-sided slim bezel design makes them particularly attractive for multi-monitor setups. User comfort is addressed through flicker-free technology and an anti-glare coating. Moreover, it features a 5-way joystick for OSD adjustments, providing quick access to gaming features such as Dark Boost and Overdrive. While the S2E models feature a fully ergonomic stand with height, swivel, and pivot capabilities, the S1A variant offers a more streamlined tilt/swivel stand for those who prioritise a lower price point over full adjustability.

Expanding its reach to mainstream gamers who may not require the speed of the Phantom Gaming series, ASRock also introduced the Challenger series CL25FFB and CL27FFB. These entry-level models move to a 144Hz refresh rate while maintaining FHD resolution and FreeSync support, meeting ENERGY STAR 8.0 standards for improved power efficiency. Across the Phantom Gaming series, specialised display modes let users easily switch between presets for gaming, cinema, and productivity.

Dell launches two new affordable 27-inch FullHD gaming monitors

19 February 2026 at 17:00

Dell has expanded its 2026 gaming monitor lineup with two 27-inch displays, the Dell SE2726HGS and the Dell SE2726HG. Designed to bring high-refresh-rate gaming to the entry-level market, they share the same specs and cater to two distinct desk setups.

Both the SE2726HGS and the SE2726HG (via DisplaySpecifications) are built around a 240 Hz Fast IPS panel with a 1080p resolution, offering a balance of speed and colour accuracy. With a minimum response time of 0.5 ms and support for AMD FreeSync Premium, these displays are clearly aimed at gamers who prioritise motion clarity over pixel density.

The visual specifications are also identical across the board, featuring 300-nit typical brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 8-bit colour depth, and 99% sRGB coverage. Connectivity is also shared between both models, with each sporting dual HDMI 2.1 ports (operating via TMDS) and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. To protect long-term eye health during marathon sessions, Dell has integrated its ComfortView Plus hardware-level blue light filter, which reduces harmful blue light emissions without sacrificing screen colour temperature.

The divergence between these two models lies in their physical architecture and price. The Dell SE2726HGS, priced at $170, features an ergonomic stand with 110 mm of height adjustment and a massive 173-degree swivel range. On the other hand, the Dell SE2726HG is a more utilitarian option at ยฃ130/$130, featuring a static stand with only basic tilt functionality.

KitGuru says: While the SE2726HG is lighter and has a smaller footprint, the extra $40 for the HGS model effectively buys you the ability to align the screen with your eye level.
