Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass detailed and dated

30 July 2026 at 10:00

Unlike with the arrival of the Switch 1 back in 2017, Nintendo’s sequel system did not launch with a bonafide console-seller in the vein of Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild. One of the Switch 2’s big success stories so far however has been the Animal Crossing-esque Pokemon Pokopia. Following its release earlier this year, Nintendo has now detailed and dated the game’s previously-announced Expansion Pass.

During Nintendo’s Summer Direct, the console maker officially announced and confirmed that Pokemon Pokopia would be receiving a suite of DLCs in the form of a 3-part Expansion Pass. At the time, details were light on the matter, with the primary revelation being that Part 1 of the DLC – Bubbly Basin – would be arriving some time in August.

With July almost at an end, Nintendo has now released an β€˜extended trailer’ detailing what players can expect from Bubbly Basin when it arrives (confirmed to be on the 5th of August).

Set to introduce β€œan entirely new underwater town for Ditto to rebuild and explore” part 1 of this DLC will allow for β€œthree-dimensional builds that are only possible underwater” while also introducing new crops such as watermelons; additional water-type pokemon; new furniture designs; a new Dream Island and plenty of story content.

Offering a bit more on the rest of the Expansion Pass, DLC 2 is expected to launch some time in late 2026, and while it will not bring with it a new region, the DLC will mark the debut of Accessories as a feature. Last but not least, Part 3 of the DLC will go live sometime next year and will introduce another new town.

Between Pokemon Pokopia, Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing’s big update, Switch 2 owners are not lacking in the way of simulation / society-building games.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Bubbly Basin? Is the Expansion Pass worth it? Does the Switch 2 have a game which you would consider a console-seller? Let us know down below.
