New video of melted Bambu Lab A1 sparks debate about whether the 3D printer is still a fire hazard โ€” critics push for recall while redditors suspect external factors

Bambu Lab is once more in hot water after user Moreiras3D posted a video of a melted A1 3D printer to Instagram. The footage shows an A1 with its side completely melted down to the metal chassis, but some of the key details behind the incident remain unknown.

Josef Prusa says Bambu Lab allegedly violates AGPL license with an un-auditable network 'black box' โ€” warns Chinese 3D printing software poses massive security risks

While the internet is up in arms over Bambu Lab threatening legal action against an indy OrcaSlicer developer, Josef Prusa once again warns of sheep in wolves' clothing. Prusa, the founder and CEO of Prusa Research and proponent of open source, has often noted that his company is the last Western manufacturer of desktop 3D printers still standing after China began subsidizing manufacturers within its borders.

3DMakerPro Toucan 3D Scanner review: All-in-one 3D scanning

10 May 2026 at 13:00
Designed to be used as a standalone device, the 3DMakerPro Toucan allows users to capture a point cloud, generate a 3D model, and export it without using a computer. The hardware has a premium feel, and the Class 3R laser can create detailed point clouds quickly. However, the software lacks polish and has some quirks. Tracking loss, inconsistent export via Wi-Fi, and blurry color textures are all issues that occurred during testing.

Valve makes Steam Controller and Puck CAD files available for modders

7 May 2026 at 13:00

Valve has released official 3D CAD files for the Steam Controller and Puck to support the hardware modding community. The release of these files follows a launch in which the new controller sold out shortly after it became available.

The technical package is available under a Creative Commons license and includes STP and STL models for the external shell topology of both the controller and the Puck. Valve also provided engineering drawings detailing critical features and โ€œkeep outโ€ zones to assist designers in maintaining signal strength and functional clearances for third-party accessories.

The CAD files are intended to facilitate the creation of custom grips, 3D-printed stands, and other physical modifications. While the files cover the hardware's surface topology, they do not include internal component designs. Modders can access the repository via GitLab to begin developing accessories for the new platform.
