Alphacool Apex 2 Thermal Grease Brings Better Cooling for CPUs and GPUs

Alphacool has introduced the Apex 2 Thermal Grease, a new version of its thermal paste designed to help modern CPUs and GPUs run cooler. The company says the updated formula offers better heat transfer than the previous Apex thermal grease.

The new Apex 2 was developed by Alphacool together with Halnziye. It is designed for systems that produce a lot of heat, including gaming PCs, overclocked builds, workstations, and servers.

One of the main improvements is its performance under high thermal loads. Alphacool says the paste works especially well around areas where heat is strongly concentrated, such as GPU hotspots. Better heat transfer in these areas can help reduce temperatures during demanding workloads.

Apex 2 also uses an electrically non-conductive formula. This means it is safer to use around sensitive components because the thermal grease does not conduct electricity.

The paste has also been designed with a balanced consistency. This should make it easier to apply and spread evenly across the surface of a CPU or GPU.

Alphacool says the Apex 2 offers improved cooling compared with its previous thermal grease while being optimized for current processors and graphics cards.

The Alphacool Apex 2 Thermal Grease is now available through the company’s online store with an MSRP of €9.95.

Thermal Grizzly launches new Hydronaut Pro and Duronaut Pro thermal pastes

Thermal Grizzly has announced two new high-performance thermal interfaces, the Duronaut Pro and Hydronaut Pro, offering enhanced thermal conductivity over their standard predecessors.

The manufacturer developed Duronaut Pro with a focus on long-term stability and reduced pump-out effects. This compound combines a specialised silicone oil with aluminium micropowder and zinc oxide nanopowder to minimise contact resistance, allowing users to apply it in a very thin layer. According to the product documentation, this specific mixture remains electrically non-conductive and won't cure over time.

Hydronaut Pro targets industrial systems by utilising a completely silicone-free carrier structure. Standard silicone-based pastes can suffer from oil bleeding or mechanical displacement during repeated temperature fluctuations, which can degrade performance or damage adjacent sealing materials such as EPDM or NBR. Thermal Grizzly states that this RoHS-compliant formulation avoids these structural risks while maintaining high conductivity without curing.

Laboratory testing conducted by the company measures performance using a 30x30mm contact surface under a 240W heat flow with 300N of force. Based on the test results, you can expect around a 4% improvement moving from Duronaut/Hydronaut to Duronaut/Hydronaut Pro. Both thermal paste solutions are now available, with the Duronaut Pro starting at €17.90 (2g) and the Hydronaut Pro starting at €14.90 (2g).
