The Blood of Dawnwalker stutters hard and caps cutscenes at 30FPS

The Blood of Dawnwalker just launched, and it’s already got a technical mess on its hands. Bandai Namco’s new Unreal Engine 5 title suffers from heavy stuttering and, weirdly, locks most of its cutscenes at 30FPS.

Tested on an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000MHz, and an RTX 5090, running Windows 10 with the GeForce 616.64 driver, paints a rough picture for a day-one release.

A 30FPS cap that makes no sense

The Blood of Dawnwalker opens with a cinematic locked to 30FPS. On PC. In 2026. Oddly, cutscenes with player decisions run unlocked, while everything else stays capped, which makes the pacing feel jarring depending on which scene you’re in. A patch could fix this, or we wait for a modder to do the devs’ job for them.

Stutters every time you move the camera

The prologue runs clean, so the first impression is decent. Then the village hits, and the stuttering starts. This isn’t traversal stutter; it’s camera-movement stutter, and since this is a third-person action RPG, that means near-constant frame pacing issues.

On performance, Lumen is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. At native 4K on Ultra, the first village hovers around 45-50FPS. DLSS Quality pushes it above 60FPS consistently. For a UE5 game leaning this hard on Lumen, the visuals aren’t matching the performance cost.

A lot of people were hyped for this one, so it’s worth flagging: this game needed more time in the oven.
