Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes Review โ€“ Sometimes, You Have to Roll a Hard six

11 July 2026 at 10:00

Several large Starships orbit a planet with fiery eruptions in space, featuring the title 'Battlestar Galactica Scattered Hopes'.

Anybody who knows me knows I am a sucker for Sci-Fi, and two of my favourite space-based series are Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. While this is a late review of the game, it's one that was sitting in my inbox and one that I felt that I should do for a few reasons: I'm a fan of the series, I enjoyed Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown when I reviewed it four months ago, and I am a fan of FTL-like games. Not picking up Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes and covering it, whatever it turned out like, would clearly [โ€ฆ]

Gacha Capsule Slot Simulator โ€“ Akihabara Early Access Hands On

4 July 2026 at 10:00

In the game Akihabara Gacha Capsule Shop Simulator, an influencer and a player character stand outside a store, with on-screen text stating 'The influencer you ordered has arrived at your store!'

I can't tell you where the recent trend of shop-simulator games began. It feels like another one is being released every minute, with little to differentiate them beyond the superficial coating of what your in-game shop is selling. Does Gacha Capsule Slot Simulator - Akihabara do anything to flip that script and make itself stand out? It's recently launched into early access, so let's have a look and find out. History lesson first. The first game I remember playing that really sold me on the joys of running my own shop was Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. Over a decade [โ€ฆ]

Copa City Review โ€“ FIFA World Cup Host City Simulator

27 June 2026 at 08:30

A crowd of diverse football fans wearing jerseys and holding flags gather in front of a stadium with Copa City FIRST FOOTBALL TYCOON' written above, featuring team logos such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Flamengo.

I've been a fan of the Kicksphere for as long as I can remember, and my team of choice is - for better or worse - Manchester United. When I was young, I was attracted to the fast-paced, attractive football of your Giggs and Scholes, the never-give-up nature of the Neville brothers, and the fact that your Wes Brown and John O'Shea could and did play far above the level people expected of them. It was a good time. Not so much now. Also, absolutely nothing of that has anything to do with Copa City, other than that it's about [โ€ฆ]

The Gate Must Stand Review โ€“ Break Down the Walls

20 June 2026 at 10:00

A group of armored and robed characters with a central knight holding a sword, featuring vibrant red accents and a medieval city background.

Normally, when writing a review - or almost anything - I would start with a little blurb or story. Maybe it's about the genre, maybe the developer, maybe it's just some random anecdote that the game has made me think of. With The Gate Must Stand, I've got nothing. Possibly something about the Matt Damon film The Great Wall. Why? Because there's a wall in it. That's about it. Anyway, after that random detour to a film I now want to watch again, let's talk about the game. Let's start by saying The Gate Must Stand is the fifty-second game [โ€ฆ]

Star Trek: Voyager โ€“ Across the Unknown Review

18 February 2026 at 14:00

A spaceship from Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is flying through space with the text 'Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown' visible.

If there's one thing that should be known about me, it's that I am a Trekkie. You can keep your Obi-Wan, the Solos, and the Skywalkers. I will pick Jean-Luc Picard, Benjamin Sisko, and Kathryn Janeway every day of the week. That's what makes Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown such a compelling title to me. Even if I hadn't been sent a copy to review, I would have bought this because, as I've said, Star Trek. Now, with my love of the source material out in the open, I'm going to say that this has the potential to [โ€ฆ]
