PS5 Pro gives The Blood of Dawnwalker its best console look, still caps at 40 FPS
Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves just gave us our first real look at The Blood of Dawnwalker running on consoles, and thereβs good news and slightly less good news wrapped into one video.
Letβs start with the good bit: the PS5 Pro is going to give you the best console version of this game, no contest. But hereβs the catch: 60 FPS is staying a PC exclusive. Even Sonyβs beefed-up mid-gen console tops out at 40 FPS. Rough for anyone who was hoping their Pro upgrade would finally deliver buttery-smooth combat.

What are the display modes?
The PS5 Pro gets two options:
- Quality: Dynamic 4K, targeting 30 FPS
- Balanced: Dynamic 4K, targeting 40 FPS
From the footage, Quality mode looks properly sharp, so that dynamic resolution scaler is clearly doing a good job staying close to native 4K. We didnβt get a look at Balanced mode in action, but Iβd bet the extra frames come at the cost of some visual crispness. Thatβs usually how it goes.
The base PS5 gets identical modes, though the dynamic resolution is noticeably more aggressive in Quality mode, so expect a softer image than on the Pro. Xbox Series X owners are getting much the same deal, with barely any difference from the PS5 experience. As for Xbox Series S, itβs a no-show in the video entirely, and given itβs the weakest box in the lineup, that silence is a little worrying.

Is 40 FPS on PS5 Pro disappointing? Sure, a bit. But itβs not shocking, either. This is Unreal Engine 5 weβre talking about, and Rebel Wolves is a much smaller studio than the ones with the resources to fully optimise for Sonyβs hardware, on top of already steep PC requirements. 40 FPS with cleaner visuals than the base consoles is a fair trade-off, and if youβre after the best console experience going, the Pro is still your pick.
