Program/Erase, Read, Commands, Addressing, Pins, and the Bus

The flash controller communicates with the non-volatile flash media via a double data rate (NV-DDR) bidirectional data line (DQ) or bus and with conditional pins. These pins can select various modes while the bus transfers data and addresses. Typical commands include read, write (program), and erase. This bus has a clock speed in MHz that is doubled for megatransfers per second (MT/s) as with types of DRAM.
