Nintendo kicked off its Zelda 40th Anniversary showcase, and it packed in more than I expected for what was meant to be a quiet warm-up to a bigger Direct.

New Amiibo and Museum Updates

New Amiibo figures were confirmed, alongside changes to the Nintendo Museum tied to the anniversary. Nothing revolutionary, but nice touches for collectors.

Ocarina of Time Remake

The big one. Nintendo showed extended gameplay for the Ocarina of Time Remake, both in a longer look and a condensed version for the main Direct. More importantly, we finally got a release date. After years of rumours, it’s actually happening.

Switch 2 Zelda Edition Leaks

A 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console and Pro Controller leaked during the showcase. If you wanted a themed console to go with the remake, this is shaping up to be it.

Concerts and a Movie Title

Nintendo also announced anniversary concerts and confirmed the Zelda movie’s official title, which apparently tells an original story rather than adapting one game directly.

For a “just a warm-up” showcase, that’s a packed 40th birthday. The main Nintendo Direct has a lot to live up to now.
