Acer is giving gamers a more portable way to enjoy its Predator gaming experience with the new Predator Atlas 7, a 7-inch Windows gaming handheld designed to deliver high-end performance in a smaller body. The company also showed off Project DualPlay Mini, a concept that combines gaming and laptop-style productivity in one device.

Predator Atlas 7 Brings High-End Gaming to 7 Inches

The Predator Atlas 7 is aimed at gamers who want strong performance without carrying a larger handheld. The device comes with up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics, giving it the hardware needed for demanding PC games.

Acer is also offering the handheld with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, allowing users to access a large library of games from the start. Since it runs Windows 11, the Atlas 7 can also handle the wider range of apps and gaming features available on a PC.

Cooling is another major part of the Predator Atlas 7. Acer has fitted the handheld with a dual-fan system that includes an 89-blade Predator AeroBlade metal fan. Its blades are only 0.1 mm thick, and Acer says the design can improve airflow by up to 10 percent.

A second plastic fan works with the AeroBlade fan to move hot air out of the chassis. Acer uses angled internal channels as part of its Vortex Flow cooling design to help the handheld maintain performance during longer gaming sessions.

The device can also be configured with a battery of up to 80 Wh, which should make it better suited to longer gaming sessions away from a charger.

A Display Made for Smooth Gaming

The Predator Atlas 7 features a 7-inch FHD touchscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches up to 500 nits of brightness and supports Variable Refresh Rate, which can help keep gameplay smooth when frame rates change.

The display uses a 16:9 aspect ratio and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC surface treatment. Acer says this treatment helps reduce glare while improving scratch resistance.

The touchscreen supports 10-point multitouch, giving users another way to interact with Windows and supported games.

Acer Focuses on Better Handheld Controls

Acer has also redesigned the shape of the Atlas 7 around longer gaming sessions. The handheld features contoured grips, a larger palm rest area, recessed keys and an anti-slip texture to give players a more secure hold.

The joysticks can be equipped with TMR technology, which is designed to provide accurate movement and better resistance to drift. Acer also includes Hall-effect analog triggers, giving players more control over pressure and trigger movement.

A fingerprint reader is built directly into the power button, allowing users to sign into Windows through Windows Hello.

For connectivity, the Atlas 7 includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, making it possible to connect displays, docks and other high-speed accessories. There is also UHS-II microSD support for fast storage expansion.

Wireless connectivity includes Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

PredatorSense Adds More Control

Acer’s PredatorSense software gives users access to system monitoring and performance controls. Players can switch performance modes, adjust RGB lighting and manage other gaming settings directly from the handheld.

Audio comes from two 2-watt speakers with DTS:X Ultra support. The device also has dual microphones with Acer PurifiedVoice technology, which uses AI-based noise reduction to make voice communication clearer.

Project DualPlay Mini Takes a Different Approach

Alongside the Atlas 7, Acer introduced Project DualPlay Mini, an 8-inch concept device that combines a gaming handheld with a small laptop-style workstation.

The main idea behind the concept is flexibility. Users can play games using the handheld controls, or switch to a configuration with a built-in backlit physical keyboard.

That keyboard could be useful for first-person shooters and other games where mouse-and-keyboard-style controls are preferred. The device can also work as a mobile productivity machine and connect to an external display when a larger workspace is needed.

Its flip-and-swivel design allows the device to move between handheld and mini-laptop configurations.

Acer has even added a small anniversary detail to the concept. The back cover includes “Acer 50 since 1976” in Morse Code, marking the company’s 50th anniversary.

The concept also uses a dual-fan cooling system similar to the one found in the Predator Atlas 8, although its metal fan uses thinner blades.

Predator Atlas 7 Release Date

Acer says the Predator Atlas 7 will arrive in North America during Q4 2026, while the EMEA region is scheduled to receive it from November 2026.

The previously announced Predator Atlas 8 is expected to launch in North America and EMEA in September 2026.

Acer has not yet provided final pricing for the Atlas 7. Exact specifications, prices and availability may also differ between regions.

Project DualPlay Mini, meanwhile, remains a concept product and is not currently confirmed for commercial release.
