Overprovisioning, System Area, Startup and System Operations

Overprovisioning is the art of leaving space free or reserved for the SSD’s use, useful because NAND must be erased before it is rewritten. SSDs also reserve some flash as a system area for operations. This is also a factor for SSD startup operations.
