CAPCOM Brings Tifa To Street Fighter 6 In Year 4 Lineup, Returning Her To Fighting Games After 27 Years

Characters Tifa, Arjun, Yasmine, and Bosch are depicted with dynamic poses and colorful energy swirls, alongside the 'Street Fighter 6' logo.

As per tradition, CAPCOM has revealed the Street Fighter 6 Year 4 character lineup during Summer Game Fest, which is set to top previous years' lineups. While fan favorites like M. Bison, Sagat, C. Viper Alex, and guest characters like Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui were brought to the game in the past few years, this year will see the arrival of some brand new characters, but also another surprising guest character: Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII. The game's Year 4 lineup was revealed during today's Summer Game Fest showcase. Surprisingly enough, Tifa was the only part of earlier […]

CAPCOM Doubles Down on Monster Hunter Wilds With 2027 Ascendance Expansion After Lapsed Players Returned Post-Launch Fixes

A promotional image for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance shows two characters exploring a vast, rocky landscape with floating islands and cascading waterfalls.

Besides announcing the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake, which is dropping the “Code” from the original's name, CAPCOM had other announcements to share during this year's Summer Game Fest showcase. Among them was a massive expansion to Monster Hunter Wilds called Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance, which is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2027. The announcement trailer provided the first look at a brand-new location filled with floating islands and ruins, which already looks significantly more vibrant than anything in the base game. In addition, the trailer also provided a look at the core new […]

Resident Evil Veronica Reimagines The Classic Entry In The Series in 2027 on PC and Consoles

A female character with blue eyes is held by a gloved hand in a dimly lit scene from the game Resident Evil Veronica

Following the successful release of Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year, the beloved survival-horror series by CAPCOM will return in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 with Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the classic entry in the series originally released on the SEGA Dreamcast back in 2000. The rumored remake was announced during today's Summer Game Fest showcase just as previously rumored with a deceptive trailer that only showed the modern recreation of Claire Redfield at its very end, alongside the game's name, which will drop "Code" from the original. Unfortunately, a precise […]

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Brings Back CAPCOM’s Series On September 25, With Free Demo Launching Today

A warrior holding a sword stands in a dark, mystical forest with the text 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword' displayed beside him.

Right after releasing Pragmata back in April, Capcom reminded its fans that they were not yet done releasing games in 2026, as Onimusha: Way of the Sword was still scheduled to launch before the end of the year. During today's State of Play presentation, the Japanese publisher confirmed the game will launch, as rumored, on September 25. The new trailer didn't just confirm the game's release date, as it provided a new look at the many dangers waiting for Musashi as he slashes his way in this gorgeous fantasy rendition of feudal Japan. While Onimusha: Way of the Sword is […]

Pragmata 2 Hasn’t Been Greenlit Yet, but Director Yonghee Cho Would “Love to See a Sequel,” If It Were Only Up to Him

A blonde character in the game 'Pragmata' reaches out towards a futuristic holographic interface.

For anyone who has followed the video game industry since, oh, about 2019, it's been clear that Capcom is on a generational run of simply being unable to miss with commercially and (mostly) critically successful games. A run that's continued even when introducing brand new franchises like Pragmata, which arrived on PC and consoles earlier this year, earning critical and commercial success with the game hitting 1M copies sold in just two days. Naturally, when a game has that kind of smash success, questions of a sequel arise, and while there's nothing greenlit yet, game director Yonghee Cho has made […]

Resident Evil franchise hits new milestone with 200 million units sold

While it could have been argued that Monster Hunter was quickly becoming Capcom’s flagship franchise, the past few years seem to have cemented Resident Evil as the publisher’s premiere series. In the wake of Resident Evil Requiem’s rapid and ongoing success, Capcom have revealed that the RE franchise has officially exceeded 200 million copies sold.

Taking to their site to update their Platinum Titles list (games which have sold over 1 million copies), Capcom revealed that as of the 31st of March, the latest Resident Evil Requiem managed to sell over 6.9 million copies – immediately putting it as their 15th best-selling game of all time

Of course, RE Requiem only officially released at the tail-end of February, meaning it has likely sold far more since these figures were tallied.

Resident Evil Capcom

Perhaps more interesting is the fact that Requiem’s launch helped push the Resident Evil franchise as a whole past 200 million copies sold. This puts it easily as Capcom’s biggest franchise, with second place going to Monster Hunter at 127 million copies sold.

Speaking of, Monster Hunter Wilds seems to still be struggling in the wake of its explosive launch period, selling just 400k units during the past quarter (the same as MH Rise) for a total of 11.4 million copies sold.

With RE Requiem continuing to push units and rumours claiming that many more Resident Evil games are in the works, it won’t be long before the series reaches the big 250.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Capcom’s recent performance? Did you expect Monster Hunter Wilds sales to fall off a cliff like it has? Let us know down below.

CAPCOM Drops Surprise Resident Evil Requiem Demo on Every Platform, but Your Progress Won’t Carry Over

A promotional image for 'Resident Evil: Requiem Demo' featuring a character holding a flashlight in the rain.

This morning, Japanese developer and publisher CAPCOM surprisingly released a free Resident Evil Requiem demo on all platforms: PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and Nintendo Switch 2. The demo allows players to play "part of the game’s early stages", according to CAPCOM. However, unlike recent demos for other games, the save data won't carry over to the full game for those users who choose to purchase it afterward. This means they'll have to retread those parts of the game they have already gone through in the Resident Evil Requiem demo. Resident Evil […]

Resident Evil Requiem gets free demo on PC and consoles

Resident Evil Requiem has already been one of the highest-rated and highest-selling games of the year. Now, Capcom is giving fans the chance to try it out for free through a new demo.

The Resident Evil Requiem demo is now available for all platforms, including PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, alongside consoles like the Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The demo gives fans a chance to play the “early stages” of the campaign, although those who opt to play the demo will not be able to bring their save data forward into the full game, so if you do jump in, just know that you will need to start over again when you buy the game.

Capcom has offered demos for many of its major titles in recent years, usually offering between 30 minutes and an hour of game time.

KitGuru Says: We don't know exactly where in the campaign the demo ends but if you've been interested in Resident Evil Requiem and want to try before you buy, this is the best way.

CAPCOM May Finally End Devil May Cry 5’s PC Snub, Porting Special Edition Content 5 Years After Console Release

A close-up of a computer-generated character with short black hair and multicolored eyes, set against a black background.

It has been a long time since Devil May Cry 5 launched on PC and previous generation consoles, and, besides getting Vergil as a new playable character, the original versions of the game did not get any of the other improvements featured in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S Special Edition release. However, some very interesting discoveries made by Reddit user Maarten PeTeRS suggest that CAPCOM may finally end its snubbing of the PC release. The user recently took a good look at the SteamDB Update History page of Devil May Cry 5, highlighting that, since January 9, ChangeNumber […]

Capcom has record-breaking year

Capcom has seen incredible growth over the last decade, in large part thanks to the continued success of major franchises like Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter. This past year was the best in Capcom's entire history, with the company selling just over 59 million games in total.

The previous record for Capcom was just shy of 52 million games sold in a single year. Over the past year, that number reached 59 million, with the record-making difference being the 7+ million copies of Resident Evil Requiem sold so far.

Interestingly, over 83% of its sales came from what Capcom classifies as ‘Catalogue' games. This includes past Resident Evil and Monster Hunter titles, as well as the likes of Devil May Cry 5 and Street Fighter 6. Capcom also specified that 93% of its game sales were for digital downloads.

Capcom has started off the new fiscal year on a high note, thanks to the success of its brand-new IP, Pragmata, which has sold over two million copies since launch.

KitGuru Says: Capcom has become quite the powerhouse since shipping Resident Evil 7.

Devil May Cry 1 remake rumoured to be in the works

Capcom has found a great deal of success in the remake space, particularly when it comes to their Resident Evil franchise. With the publisher having already revived a majority of past mainline RE titles, it seems Capcom is planning to expand its remaking efforts to other franchises – with a Devil May Cry remake rumoured to currently be in development.

As reported by ‘Stiviwonder’ (though should of course be taken with a major pinch of salt) a remake of Devil May Cry is said to be in the works.

As of now, no further details were offered. That said, Stiviwonder has shared other leaks in the past (some of which were corroborated by known Capcom insiders), lending a little bit of credence to the rumours.

While far from Capcom’s biggest franchise, the Devil May Cry series has grown significantly in recent years, with the most recent mainline entry ‘DMC 5’ selling over 10 million copies and helping to push the franchise past the 30 million mark.

Devil May Cry Remake

Combine this with comments from Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya claiming that he would “love to” remake DMC1 and it seems like such a project could indeed be a reality.

Of course, we will have to wait patiently to find out whether there is any merit to the rumour. Still, with DMC 5 having been released over 7 years ago at this point, it is high time that we got a new entry in one form or another.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Leon Must Die Forever is the first DLC for Resident Evil Requiem

Recently, Capcom teased that Resident Evil Requiem would be getting DLC soon. Now just as promised, that DLC has been announced, bringing a new mode to the game titled Leon Must Die Forever.

Players can unlock Leon Must Die Forever by completing the main Resident Evil Requiem campaign. Once that is done, you can play this new fast-paced action mode with Leon, where you must make it to the end of the level alive and take down a boss within a time limit.

Leon Must Die Forever is a separate mode to the main story. However, the development team is also working on new story content as well, which will likely be paid DLC, rather than a free update.

KitGuru Says: Will you be loading Resident Evil Requiem back up to try out this new game mode?

Capcom’s Pragmata surpasses two million sales

Capcom has announced that Pragmata, its new sci-fi action-adventure IP, has surpassed two million units sold worldwide. The milestone was achieved within 16 days of its release.

The title, which is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, reached its first million copies within 48 hours of availability. However, this figure could have been even better if the game had been released worldwide on all platforms simultaneously. While most versions launched globally on April 17th, the Nintendo Switch 2 version in Japan and Asia only become available on April 24th.

According to the press release, Capcom attributes the performance to marketing initiatives including an early “Sketchbook” playable demo and the game's focus on the narrative bond between protagonists Hugh and Diana. Also worth noting is that Pragmata is Capcom's first original internal IP in eight years.

Currently sitting at 86 on OpenCritic and 97% on Steam, it's clear that critics and players enjoy the game. Complemented by the sales figures, it's safe to say the new IP is already a success.

KitGuru says: Have you tried Pragmata already? What do you think of it? Do you think it deserves the praise it's getting?

Resident Evil Requiem Datamine Exposes Investigation Mechanics, and Deeper Leon-Grace Interplay CAPCOM Cut Alongside Chapter 2

Leon from Resident Evil Requiem game series is looking intently while holding onto a metal bar in a dimly lit environment.

In terms of scope, Resident Evil Requiem is not much different from its predecessors, but it seems like CAPCOM had to rein in the game's ambition at some point during development. Besides scrapping a Chapter 2, the development team seems to have done away with plenty of other features and mechanics, including investigation mechanics and systems that suggest there would be more interplay between the Grace and Leon segments. As reported by Dusk Golem on X, dataminers recently took a good look at the game's files and have made some very interesting discoveries. Among the scrapped features discovered are: While […]

Capcom COO hints at future plans for Pragmata following successful launch

Capcom launched Pragmata last month to very positive reviews. The publisher has been very happy with the game's performance so far, with executives indicating that Pragmata will now become one of Capcom's main active IP.

Capcom has launched many IP over the decades but only a few see much focus at any given time. In recent years, the publisher has primarily focused on Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter, with more experimental releases like Dragon's Dogma 2, Exoprimal and Pragmata sprinkled in.

While Exoprimal didn't quite live up to the mark and is unlikely to see future games, the same can't be said for Pragmata. As reported by Game File, Rob Dyer, Capcom USA's Chief Operating Officer, recently said that Pragmata will see future releases following its successful launch:

“They took feedback and it was worth the effort. We're to a point now where we've got another IP that we can continue to go down”.

KitGuru Says: Capcom has added a Sci-Fi IP to its roster. Now the question is, when will Pragmata 2 arrive?

Capcom’s new Resident Evil film gets its first official trailer

The Resident Evil series is one of the most acclaimed and well-loved in the video games industry, with a majority of the franchise’s mainline releases being both commercial and critical juggernauts. That said, reception towards its many previous live-action adaptations have been largely mixed at best. Taking a more serious route with their latest efforts however, Zach Gregger’s original Resident Evil film has now gotten its first trailer.

Showcasing a tense couple of scenes filled with aura and strong cinematography, Capcom / Sony Pictures officially shared a first teaser trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil film.

Featuring the tagline of “a new era of evil” this film reboot looks to be taking the atmosphere in a much darker direction compared to the RE films from the 2000s.

Co-written and directed by Zach Gregger, the filmmaker is known best for his work on the 2025 hit Weapons – a supernatural mystery horror which went on to win countless awards including an Oscar and multiple Golden Globe nominations.

In case you missed it, this latest movie is confirmed to be an original entry which will feature its own unique characters and story “that still leaves everything [fans] love intact from the games.”

While it is still too early to tell, this first teaser trailer for Resident Evil presents a strong initial impression. Hopefully the movie itself proves to be a success.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for the film? What do you think of the 2000s originals? Are you glad that they’re not adapting any pre-existing story? Let us know down below.

Zach Cregger is “Honouring” Resident Evil’s Story Structure, Survival Elements, and Progressively Weirder Monsters Rather Than Retell Leon’s Story

A person is running down a snowy street at night with an explosion occurring behind them, surrounded by parked cars covered in snow.

Weapons director Zach Cregger is set to make his mark on the Resident Evil franchise with his own cinematic take on the popular horror franchise, and today we got our first proper peek at what that'll look like with the film's first teaser trailer. The trailer reveal also arrived alongside Cregger diving a little more into his thought process on developing the film in different interviews, particularly answering why he didn't just try and adapt a pre-existing Resident Evil story. "I wanted to tell a story that could take place in the Resident Evil world, but wasn't telling a story […]

Capcom raises profit forecast as Resident Evil Requiem beats expectations

Resident Evil Requiem is due to get its first piece of DLC very soon. The new content will land at a perfect time, as Capcom just raised its profit forecast thanks to continued strong sales of the game.

In a newly-released financial statement, Capcom said that Resident Evil Requiem's 7-million sales milestone has pushed its financials up for the year, with the company now set to “outperform the previously announced forecast”.

This would mean that Resident Evil Requiem has beaten Capcom's predictions. The company now expects to earn around $320 million in net profit, a near 7% increase from its previous forecast.

Resident Evil Requiem wasn't the only money maker here though. Capcom also noted favourable performance for its Arcade business, amusement equipment business and other areas of operation.

KitGuru Says: If Dragon's Dogma 2 also gets a big ‘Arisen' style upgrade this year, then Capcom will have a spectacularly strong 2026.

Resident Evil Requiem has already sold 7 million copies

Resident Evil Requiem has officially surpassed 7 million copies sold since its debut just last month. This marks a significant jump from the 6 million tally reported in mid-April, further cementing its status as a titan of the horror genre.

The game has been a record-breaker from the jump, having moved 5 million units in its first five days, making it the fastest-selling entry in the history of the Resident Evil franchise. To commemorate this milestone, director Koshi Nakanishi took to Instagram to share a look at the studio's festivities, which featured two massive, custom-themed cakes dedicated to the game's protagonists.

The celebration was split between the game's lead duo, Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft. The Leon-themed cake sported a black-iced finish, was adorned with fresh blueberries and raspberries, and was topped with a figure of Leon holding a pistol and a hatchet. In contrast, the Grace Ashcroft cake opted for a cleaner white frosting, with a sculpted zombie hand bursting through. Messages on the cakes read “Welcome to 7m Leon!” and “Grace Congratulations on 7 million!”.

The momentum isn't slowing down for fans, either, with a content update slated for release next month. Beyond that, a story DLC is confirmed to be in development, but not ready for release in the immediate future.

KitGuru says: Are you among those who bought Resident Evil Requiem? Between the Leon's and Grace's path, which of the two gameplay styles have you found yourself gravitating toward more during your time in the game?
