8BitDo celebrates N64โ€™s 30th anniversary with Clear Blue Retro 87 keyboard and Ultimate 2 controller

8BitDo has announced two new peripherals to commemorate the Nintendo 64's 30th anniversary: the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard N64 Edition in a clear blue colourway and a matching Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller.

The Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard from the 30th-anniversary N64 collection (via Cowcotland) features a clear blue aesthetic with colour-coded keycaps that match the original console's controller, including yellow arrow keys for the C-buttons and a red left Ctrl key representing the Start button. This model ships with two wired Super Buttons and features an aluminium plate, a hot-swappable PCB, and Cloud Gray Linear switches co-developed with Huano. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, 2.4G wireless, and wired USB. Additionally, it supports N-key rollover, full configuration via 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2, and a dedicated Xbox Game Bar button for Windows and Android.

Launching alongside the keyboard, the Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller N64 Edition has a translucent blue top shell, coloured ABXY buttons, a translucent white D-pad, grey thumbsticks, and blue back buttons. A grey charging dock comes bundled with the device. Internal specifications match the standard Ultimate 2 controller, offering TMR thumbsticks, RGB lighting, a six-axis motion sensor, and a 1000Hz polling rate in both wired and 2.4G modes. Platform compatibility covers Windows, Android, SteamOS, and Apple devices.

Pricing for the Retro 87 keyboard sits at $99.99, with shipping scheduled to begin on August 14th. Meanwhile, the Ultimate 2 wireless controller is available now for $59.99.

KitGuru says: Nostalgic clear blue shells remain a popular aesthetic choice, and these N64-themed additions provide a clean look for retro enthusiasts looking to update their desktop peripherals.
