Control Resonant has gone GOLD as physical edition pushed back slightly

On the single-player front, Remedy Entertainment have gone from strength-to-strength, with the studio’s most recent offerings – Control and Alan Wake II – representing the team’s best work yet. Set to (hopefully) continue its streak of success, the studio is gearing up to launch Control Resonant. Officially arriving on the 24th of September, Remedy have now announced that the game has officially gone GOLD.

Taking to its socials to make the announcement, the team at Remedy Entertainment confirmed that β€œCONTROL Resonant has gone gold! Get ready to unleash Dylan Faden's paranatural abilities on September 24th.”

For the uninitiated, going Gold means that the Control Resonant master disc has been submitted to Remedy’s publishing division. Discs can then be pressed with finalised software and digital storefronts can upload the 1.0 version of the game ready for release. It’s a process that every game goes through, and means that – aside from post-launch patches and updates – Control Resonant should be complete and ready to play.

Control Resonant Gold

Most games typically wind up submitting their gold master within roughly 4 weeks of launch, meaning that Resonant is slightly ahead of the curve in that regard.

Unfortunately, the good news also came alongside some bad, with Remedy revealing that β€œThe physical release date for the game has moved [to] October 15th. We need more time to deliver the physical version to you, but rest assured – nothing stays contained forever.”

Regardless, whether you hop in on the 24th of September or later in October, Control Resonant looks set to be one of this year’s best games.

CONTROL Resonant is Remedy Entertainment's sequel to 2019's critically acclaimed Control, and it arrives as one of the most dramatic pivots in the studio's history. Despite Control's strong commercial performance (the game recently surpassed six million units sold and is therefore Remedy's best-selling game to date), rather than a third-person shooter continuing Jesse Faden's story, Resonant hands the reins to her brother, Dylan Faden, and swaps gunplay for fast-paced melee combat. Furthermore, it replaces the trademark claustrophobic corridors of The Oldest House, the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control, with an open-ended, warped reimagining of Manhattan. The project has […]
