G.SKILL has introduced a new Trident Z5 Royal NeoX DDR5 series, built for AMD systems and offering EXPO Ultra Low Latency profiles with specifications ranging from DDR5‑6000 CL36 down to DDR5‑6000 CL26.
The new kits use AMD’s recently launched EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL) profile, which adds additional sub‑timing adjustments beyond standard EXPO settings. G.SKILL says these tighter timings are designed to improve latency at the same memory speed when paired with a compatible AMD CPU, motherboard and BIOS.
The Trident Z5 Royal NeoX modules follow the company’s existing Royal aesthetic, using a mirrored silver or gold heatspreader and a crystalline RGB light bar. These new modules will roll out in phases over the coming weeks, with availability varying by region.

G.SKILL has introduced a new Flare X5X DDR5 memory series, launching initially with a DDR5‑6000 CL36 32GB (2x16GB) kit designed for AMD systems. The Flare X5X line adds support for AMD’s new EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL) profile, which uses additional sub‑timing adjustments to improve latency at the same memory speed.
The Flare X5X series builds on G.SKILL’s existing AMD‑focused DDR5 lineup, offering a DDR5‑6000 specification with primary timings of CL36‑36‑36‑76. According to G.SKILL, the new EXPO ULL profile includes extra‑tuned sub‑timings intended to reduce latency when paired with a compatible AMD CPU, motherboard and BIOS version.
The modules use a minimalist, low‑profile heatspreader design without RGB lighting, following the same aesthetic direction as the standard Flare X5 series. G.SKILL states that each kit undergoes internal validation testing to ensure stability at its rated EXPO settings.
As with other EXPO memory kits, the Flare X5X will boot at standard SPD speeds before EXPO is enabled, and reaching the rated DDR5‑6000 EXPO ULL profile requires overclocking support from the motherboard and CPU.
The Flare X5X series will roll out globally in phases over the next few weeks. Pricing will naturally vary, as the whole memory market is in flux right now due to shortages.

In Assassin's Creed Mirage at 1440p we can plainly see that EXPO ULL has minimal benefit for a Ryzen 3D CPU and delivers around 3% boost for a regular Ryzen 7 CPU.
Closing Thoughts
AMD claims that EXPO Ultra Low Latency will deliver small benefits over regular EXPO, and that lines up perfectly with our own findings. The inner workings of EXPO ULL are completely invisible to the end user and place the burden on the motherboard companies who have to carry out more research while they are developing their BIOS files, which we consider to be excellent news for the customer.
The snag, obviously, is the current outrageous cost of DDR5 memory. There is very little chance you are considering a memory upgrade for your PC on your existing set-up. This means you are only likely to encounter EXPO ULL when you either build a new PC or carry out an extensive upgrade, perhaps when AMD launches Zen 6 early in 2027.

MSI has detailed the new performance optimisations within its Click BIOS X platform, focusing on AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency (EXPO ULL) support and its built-in High-Efficiency Mode. These two features target reduced RAM latency to improve frame rates in gaming without requiring manual sub-timing adjustments, but while one requires ULL-certified modules, the other doesn't.
AMD EXPO ULL tightens memory sub-timings to lower latency directly out of the box. When compatible modules are installed, MSI Click BIOS X automatically displays an “ULL” indicator for profile selection. Internal testing using AIDA64 on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and MSI B850MPOWER system showed standard EXPO 6000 MT/s memory (CL30-38-38-96) latency sitting at 79.4ns. Switching to an EXPO ULL profile (CL30-38-38-32) reduced that latency to 71.4ns.
For users running standard EXPO kits, MSI highlights its High-Efficiency Mode feature, which includes Tightest, Tighter, Balance, and Relax presets. Enabling the “Tightest” preset on a standard EXPO module dropped latency from 79.4ns down to 71.6ns, yielding performance comparable to a dedicated EXPO ULL kit. Applying High-Efficiency Mode to an active EXPO ULL profile resulted in marginal gains, reducing latency slightly from 71.4ns to 71.1ns.
MSI notes that High-Efficiency Mode alters memory timings, which can lead to system instability depending on hardware configurations. So, those interested in trying out the feature should note that changing the setting may lead to some instability. Those who want to try it may have to update their BIOS. Once updated, go to the Advanced mode and search for the overclocking tab. There, you'll find the High-Efficiency Mode switch and the Memory Timing Preset options.
KitGuru says: If you're running standard EXPO RAM on an MSI board, toggling High-Efficiency Mode in the BIOS looks like an easy way to snag lower latency without buying a new kit or fiddling with timings yourself.

Asus and MSI have released new BIOS updates based on AGESA ComboAM5 1.3.0.1b, bringing AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL) support to older 600-series AM5 motherboards.
As noted by VideoCardz, the feature is currently available on selected Asus X670E motherboards, including the ROG Crosshair X670E Hero, Gene, and Extreme. Download links for BIOS 3803 are also live for the ROG Strix X670E-A, X670E-E, X670E-F, and ProArt X670E Creator WiFi. Other models like the ROG Strix X670E-I Gaming WiFi, TUF Gaming X670E-Plus, and TUF Gaming X670E-Plus WiFi currently show placeholder “38XX” names, indicating their builds are not yet available.
This update introduces three new DRAM timing controls to Ai Tweaker and DRAM Timing Control: “TccdL”, “TccdL_WR”, and “TccdL_WR2”. These releases are still in beta, meaning users with stable configurations might want to wait for the final versions.
MSI is also rolling out AGESA PI-1.3.0.1b updates with an “Optimized with AMD EXPO Technology: Featuring Ultra Low Latency” note for its own AM5 lineup. AMD states that its EXPO Ultra Low Latency feature targets tighter DDR5 sub-timings to reduce latency. The chipmaker claims this offers up to 4% higher average FPS than standard EXPO and up to 13% higher than JEDEC DDR5 when tested on a Ryzen 7 9700X system.

The memory kits leverage the newly updated AMD EXPO ULL technology. According to G.Skill, this technology includes several new memory sub-timing settings designed to deliver better latency performance at identical memory speeds. These enhancements particularly benefit non-X3D AMD desktop processors, and users can enable the performance boost by activating the profile through a compatible BIOS.
This new lineup is an upgrade to the existing Trident Z5 Neo RGB series, and both product families will continue to coexist. G.Skill is offering the memory modules in three colour finishes: mirrored black, matte black, and matte white.
