abxylute S8 Wireless Mobile Controller Review: Comfortable Gaming For Every Device
The abxylute name is not new to us at EnosTech. We have already covered the abxylute S9, which is a Type-C mobile gaming controller, and received a good response for its features and comfort. Now, the company has introduced the S8, which takes a different approach with a full wireless Bluetooth design.
The abxylute S8 wireless mobile controller is made for gamers who want more freedom. It works with iPhone, Android devices, Nintendo Switch, and even tablets. The controller uses a telescopic design, so it can stretch and fit different device sizes easily.
Mobile gaming is growing very fast, and it is not slowing down anytime soon. More players are moving towards phones and handheld devices for gaming. Because of this, controllers like the S8 are slowly becoming a must-have for a proper gaming experience instead of just using touch controls.
With that in mind, letβs find out where the S8 stands and whether it is worth your attention.
Unboxing
The unboxing experience of the abxylute S8 wireless mobile controller feels clean and well thought out from the start. The outer box comes in a simple white and blue design with clear product images and key features printed on top. It gives a neat and premium first impression without trying too hard.

Once you open the outer sleeve, you are greeted by a secondary white box with minimal branding. This layered packaging adds a more refined feel and keeps everything protected inside.

Opening the box reveals a well-organised layout. The controller itself is safely wrapped and placed securely, while the accessories are neatly arranged in separate compartments. Nothing feels loose or poorly packed, which shows good attention to detail.

Inside the box, you get the controller, a USB cable for charging, a user manual, and an extra swappable D-pad. The inclusion of the extra D-pad is a nice touch, especially for players who prefer different control styles.
There are also QR codes printed inside the box for quick access to setup guides and support. This makes the initial setup easier, especially for new users.

The unboxing experience of abxylute s8 feels polished and practical. It focuses on protection, organisation, and ease of use rather than unnecessary extras, which fits well with the productβs overall design approach.

Closer Look
Taking a closer look at the abxylute S8 wireless mobile controller, the design feels clean, practical, and well thought out. It uses a telescopic layout that can stretch up to 216mm, making it suitable for both smartphones and small tablets. The centre bridge feels solid and holds the device firmly in place.

The abxylute s8 controller weighs 256g, which feels balanced in hand. It is light enough for long gaming sessions, but still feels strong and durable. The matte black finish gives it a simple and premium look, and it does not easily show fingerprints.
On the front, the layout is familiar and easy to understand. The left side features a Hall effect full-size joystick with a textured top for better grip. Below it, there is a solid D-pad that feels responsive. You also get the Select button, Screenshot button, and the M button placed nearby for easy access.

On the right side, there is another Hall effect joystick, also with a textured top and a subtle purple ring around it. Above it, the controller uses a standard ABXY layout, which feels natural for most gamers. These buttons are soft, quiet, and comfortable to press.
You will also find the Start button on the top side of the right controller, and a Home button placed below the joystick for quick access. At the bottom edge, there is a USB-C charging port, which is easy to reach and does not interfere while playing.

The centre section where the device sits has a flat and slightly textured surface. This helps keep your phone or tablet stable during gameplay. The inner rails guide the device properly when stretching the controller.

Moving to the top side, the controller features well-placed Left and Right bumpers (LB/RB). Just below them, you get Hall effect linear triggers (LT/RT), which feel smooth and provide accurate input. This is especially useful for racing and shooting games where control matters more.

On the back side, the abxylute s8 controller includes two programmable buttons (LM and RM). These are placed where your fingers naturally rest, making them easy to use during gameplay. The back grips also have a textured pattern, which improves grip and reduces slipping during long sessions.

The abxylute S8 also comes with interchangeable D-pads, which is a useful feature for different types of games. You get a cross-style D-pad for more precise control, which works well in fighting or platform games, and a circular D-pad for smoother, multi-directional movement. Swapping between them is quick and easy, so you can adjust based on your gameplay needs. This small addition adds extra flexibility and makes the controller more practical for different gaming styles.

abxylute s8 offers a well-balanced design with proper button placement and strong build quality. Every part of the controller feels purposeful, making it comfortable and reliable for extended gaming across different devices.
Connectivity and Battery
The abxylute S8 wireless mobile controller comes with Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, which provides a stable and fast wireless connection. In daily use, the connection stays reliable, and the controller quickly reconnects to the last paired device when powered on.
In terms of compatibility, the S8 works with Nintendo Switch (1 & 2), Android devices, iPhones, and tablets. It supports multiple modes like NS mode, Xinput mode, PS mode, and HID mode, making it flexible for different platforms and gaming needs.
Connecting the controller is simple once you understand the modes. To pair, you need to press and hold a specific button (A, B, X, or Y) along with the Home button while the controller is off. This puts it into pairing mode with a coloured light. After that, just turn on Bluetooth on your device and select the controller from the list. For example, it may appear as βXbox Wireless Controllerβ, βWireless Controllerβ, or βAndroid Gamepadβ depending on the mode. Once connected, the controller will remember the device for next time.
Power control is also very easy. You can turn on the controller by pressing the Home button, and it will try to reconnect automatically. To turn it off, just press and hold the Home button for a few seconds. If there is no activity, it will automatically shut down to save battery.
The controller is powered by a 1000mAh battery, which is enough for long gaming sessions. It also supports fast charging, so you can quickly charge it and get back to playing.
abxylute S8 controller offers stable connectivity, simple pairing, and reliable battery performance, making it a solid choice for multi-device gaming.
User Experience
Using the abxylute S8 on my RedMagic 11 Pro was a smooth experience overall. I tested it across different setups, including Android games, PC games through GameHub, and even a Switch emulator, and the controller handled everything without any major issues.
For Android gaming, I tested titles like Red Dead Redemption and Street Fighter IV (mobile). The controller worked well in both cases. Especially in fighting games like Street Fighter IV, the inputs felt accurate and responsive, and the D-pad handled directional controls properly without any issues.

For more demanding titles, I tested Mad Max (PC) and Need for Speed Most Wanted through GameHub. The controller stayed consistent across all of them. The Hall effect joysticks felt accurate with no drift, and the Hall effect linear triggers were especially useful in racing games like Asphalt and NFS, giving better control over speed and braking.

I also tested a Switch emulator on the phone, and the controller remained responsive. Inputs were recognised properly, and there was no noticeable delay, which is important for emulator gaming.
The dual back buttons are useful for macros, especially for repeated actions or combos. Once set, they make gameplay easier without changing your grip. The interchangeable D-pads also help, as you can choose between cross or circular style depending on the game.
The ABXY app, which we already tested with the S9, works fully with the S8 as well. The app is ready to use for remote play, Game Pass, and cloud gaming, which makes it more useful for different platforms. It also allows you to customise settings like joystick deadzones, button mapping, and macro keys.

The vibration feedback works as expected and adds a bit more feel during gameplay. Battery life is also solid, as the controller lasts for a good amount of time, and fast charging helps reduce downtime.
abxylute S8 feels reliable across different platforms. Whether it is Android games, PC titles through emulation, or Switch emulator gaming, the controller stays responsive and handles everything you throw at it without any major problems.
Final Verdict
The abxylute S8 wireless mobile controller is a practical option for users who play across different devices. It focuses more on usability and compatibility rather than trying to stand out with design. The controls feel consistent, and the Hall effect joysticks and triggers help keep the input accurate during gameplay.
In day-to-day use, the controller works without much trouble. It handles Android games, emulator titles, and other platforms in a stable way. Features like interchangeable D-pads and back buttons are useful, but how much they matter will depend on the type of games you play.
The ABXY app adds extra control with customisation and support for remote play and cloud gaming, though most users may only use a few of these features regularly.
Battery life is decent for regular use, and fast charging helps when needed. It is not something that stands out, but it gets the job done without issues.
Overall, the abxylute S8 controller does what it is supposed to do. It offers stable performance, wide compatibility, and a comfortable design. It may not bring anything completely new, but it remains a reliable choice for multi-platform gaming.
Thanks to abxylute for sending the S9 and S8 for review; however, this does not affect the article, as everything is based on my own experience.
