Persona 4 Revival, Fable, Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Lots More Collide in 2027, The Most Stacked RPG Year Ever

A lineup of five game characters from games due in 2027, left to right: a young man in a school uniform, a woman in medieval attire, a blond man with determined eyes, a futuristic soldier in armor with a lion emblem, and a white-haired warrior with swords.

Summer Game Fest 2026 has come and gone, leaving us with two incredibly busy periods in the game release schedule: September-October 2026 and February-March 2027, which publishers big and small have identified in their not-so-disguised attempt to avoid a collision with Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI when it makes its debut on November 19, 2026. To fans of the roleplaying games genre, though, the recent flurry of game announcements has brought the near-certainty that next year will be memorable and perhaps unparalleled even in the future, thanks to the return of several beloved franchises/IPs and studios. Also, unlike recent years, […]

Xbox wants to introduce more exclusives once “the business is healthy”

Following Microsoft’s recent Xbox Games Showcase, the higher-ups at the company have been talking quite a bit about their plans for the future – particularly regarding their return to console exclusives. Despite some mixed messaging, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has now claimed that they plan to make more Xbox games exclusive once “the business is healthy.”

Discourse surrounding the Xbox Games Showcase has primarily revolved around the console maker’s confirmation that Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be exclusive to Xbox on the console side of things.

Attention was then brought to the subject matter further when Xbox CCO Matt Booty claimed that their strategy revolved around a “case by case” basis, adding that “our big multiplayer games, our big live service games are going to continue to be multiplatform.”

This of course sparked some confusion, as the aforementioned Gears of War E-Day will have a major multiplayer element to it. Meanwhile, the newly announced Spyro: A Realm Beyond and Senua are single-player affairs, yet are still coming to multiple platforms.

Exclusives Sharma

Speaking on all of this, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma offered her own explanation, stating via a recent interview: “I think that we are the number 2 publisher in the world, and when you do that you want your games to be everywhere. You're stronger when the world plays with you. At the same time, we're increasingly becoming more of a platform, and it's hard to find examples of platforms out there that don't have exclusive services and content.”

Sharma continued, “This is a journey for us. Our business isn't particularly healthy, as you noted, and we're starting by introducing 1 or 2 signature exclusives, and as the business is healthy, we will look to try and do more.”

Based on the wording, it seems as though Xbox is now doing a reverse on their previous “4 games” experiment, in which a small number of exclusives were ported over to PS5. As those titles sold, more ports were later announced.

Given Asha’s statement, it is safe to assume that should these two exclusives fail to make a splash on Xbox, then they might revise the strategy – and should they end up being system sellers, then we can expect more Xbox exclusives.

Regardless, it seems like Xbox’s new strategy is still in its early days, and so we will have to wait and see what becomes of it.

inXile Seals Clockwork Revolution’s Xbox Console Exclusivity, Locks 2027 Launch Window; Time-Travel Rewrites Will Reshape Everything (Including Allies)

A heavily armored character from Clockwork Revolution with ornate engravings uses a large flamethrower in a medieval stone setting, emitting bright flames and sparks.

Clockwork Revolution, the first-person action RPG developed by inXile Entertainment, received a launch window during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026: the game will be available next year, and it will be an Xbox console exclusive, just like Gears of War: E-Day. Of course, it's also going to be available on PC via Steam and the Xbox store, and it will be on Game Pass and support Xbox Play Anywhere. inXile shared some new info, too. The game is set in the steampunk city of Avalon, a city that looks polished and prosperous on the surface but is driven by industry and […]

Clockwork Revolution could be at the Xbox Games Showcase next week

A number of reveals planned for the Xbox Games Showcase next week may have just leaked. Aside from the trio of first-party games we already know are releasing this year, it looks like we will be getting a much-needed update on Clockwork Revolution.

Seven titles briefly appeared on the Game Pass ‘Coming Soon' section, which is routinely used to advertise games shown during the Xbox Showcase. As spotted by redditors, the list of games includes Clockwork Revolution, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Tropico 7, Armatus, Witchbrook, Fable and There Are No Ghosts at the Grand.

This is of course not a complete list but it does indicate that we should get news on at least each of these games during the showcase, in addition to Halo: Campaign Evolved, Call of Duty and whatever Blizzard is working on. Gears of War E-Day will be getting its own separate presentation after the main showcase.

The Xbox Games Showcase will be going live on the 7th of June.
