Taiwan's carbon pricing enters new phase with carbon fee, ETS on parallel tracks


After months of tight supply and sharp price increases in 2026, the global memory market is expected to see its supply-demand gap narrow significantly in 2027 as DRAM capacity expands and demand patterns shift, according to Beijing-based Sigmaintell Consulting. The consultancy expects the memory and broader semiconductor markets to continue growing through 2028, but forecasts a potential pullback in 2029 as evolving AI applications reshape demand.

Taiwan's EV market is staging a strong recovery in 2026, boosting vehicle registrations and charging demand, but operators remain under pressure from high capital costs and thin returns. Against that backdrop, charging software provider Blokcert Technology on September 9 unveiled Gefjon AI, billed as Taiwan's first operational decision-making brain designed specifically for charging sites, with the goal of helping operators turn charging infrastructure into more manageable and profitable energy assets.

The company said high memory costs are prompting some TV brands to favor RGB backlight solutions over OLED models because they offer lower system costs while delivering improved picture quality.
