Error Correction (ECC), Encryption, and Security

SSDs rely on error correcting code (ECC) and encryption in various ways. ECC is necessary in multiple places for SSD operation, including and especially with the maintenance of binary cell data. Encryption is also used in multiple areas and many SSDs supported hardware encryption for the Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) feature.
